Over the past few years there has been talk about phytoestrogens as women seek to use more natural ways to balance their body's reproductive system which is regulated mainly by the hormones progesterone and oestrogen.

Too much red meat, caffeine and alcohol may aggravate menopausal symptoms.

Scientists have found plants to contain hormonal substances similar to animal estrogens. They have been termed phyto-estrogens. These plants were initially brought to interest as farmers noted their animals becoming infertile after grazing on clover, alfalfa or soy seeds.
